San Francisco

Hi everybody, having abit of trouble gettiing photo's onto the blog at the moment so I've just put a few highlights of San Francisco on. It's a really beutiful city, lot's of hills though. Anyway I've put some of the most iconic photo's ono this blog.
So today ( Saturday/ Sunday for you guys ) we hired some bikes and rode across the Golden Gate Bridge, amazing.

The cable cars!!! We've riden these heaps, really good way to avoid climbing the hills, although we are staying on top of Nob Hill so we do have to climb our fare share, but it's good for us, burns off all the unhealthy American food we've been eating.
Acatraz!

We went out here yesterday, did the tour, was amazing. Feeling compelled to watch The Rock, Escape from Alcatraz, The Bird Man Of Alcatraz, any move that has Alcatraz in it and especially So I Married An Axe Murderer ( my pick of the week ) Alamo Square

Came here today after our bike ride. Fans of Full House ( and any other show or movie set in San Francisco ) should recognize these houses. Great views back over the city.

The Palace of Fine Arts.

A very interesting place, Roman sort of buildings, nice parklands, fetured in So I Married An Axe Murderer, have I mentioned that it's a great film.

So in conclusion San Francisco is a great city and we'll post some more photo's when we can.

Leaving New York!!!

We said our goodbyes to New York yesterday and jumped on a plane to LA.
Very easy flight. We flew over the fires and boy it was smokey but it was cool to see.
When we got to LA we hired a car and began our drive to San Francisco.
We spent last night half way between LA and San Fran and continued our drive to San Fran today. We have now been in San Franciso for a couple of hours but not long enough to give you anything exciting to look at.
Stay tuned!

Madison Square Garden - Knicks Vs Celtics!!!

This blog entry may have been a little better if Ben did it but i am so you will have to check out the photos when we get home.
We did a tour of Madison Square Garden and it was fantastic. The place is huge!
We got to see the Celtics training for the nights game and all.

This is the Knicks locker room door. We couldnt go in cos there was a game that night. The door is 7 foot tall. Still not tall enough for there tallest player who has to duck to get in.

Sorry to Tim, Jos and Nick for not knowing his name. Bens out for a walk so i cant even ask him.
The photo at the top was the teams singing the national anthem. We had to stand and remove our hats!

The game was an awesome experience. We had a hot dog and brought a packet of cracker jacks from the guys that walk around during the game selling them.

This is Madison Square Garden at night. After the game we went to.

Here is me with my packet of Cracker Jacks. I think i should have stuck to normal popcorn.

Another fuzzy photo of us after the game! Yay we have been to a game at Madison Square Garden!

Top of the Rock!!!!

We went to Rockefeller square to check it out at night time. It was lit so amazingly and having people ice skating was awesome. All they needed was thebig Christmas tree up. Aparently its too early! 62 sleeps til Christmas! Its on!
So we decided to check out the views from The top of the rock (Rockefeller observation deck)
Some are fuzzy. We did get some really good ones but its hard to tell when you are loading them onto blogger. The purple is the Empire State building which is a different colour every night. It was amazing up there.
I think this photo is my computers background at the moment.
It was about 67 floors up and you walked up to the 70thish floor. It was quite windy up there but not too cold. Not like it would be in December/January.
Sorry another fuzzy one. Oh well at least you can see where we have been and some of the views we have had.

The Statue of Liberty!!!

So after we went to Ground Zero and Wall Street we went on the Free Staton Island Ferry to go see the Statue of Liberty. It was amazing. Turned out though we picked the only bad weathered day to go visit the big girl. The photo above is of the Ferry we caught.
Looking back on New York. See how grey the sky is.
Here she is. Not sure if i picked the best pic to put on the blog but she was very impressive all the same.
And i had to take some pics as proofe that we were there and i didnt just steal anyone elses photos hehehe.

Ground Zero & Wall Street!!!

We went to ground Zero the other day. The only wet day we have had in America and we walked over an hour and a half to get there.
We couldnt see alot as they were doing work on it. They are building the memorial building at the moment thats why it looks like a construction site. (cos it is).

There was mesh right the way around what you can see. Ben said it is frowned upon with photos so i suppose thats why they have covered it up so much. Understandable.

Have to say that it was amazing to be there. We had lunch in a cafe right on the corner of that block and i couldnt help wondering who was around when it all happened. There are still buildings being fixed up today. It will be good to go back in a couple of years time and see the memorial building and the memorial museum that they ant to open.

After Ground Zero, we walked to wall street.

And here is the famous powerful bul from the movie Hitch. I wanted Ben to go han put his head up its butt Just like in the movie but he said no. And there were loads of people there doing the same thing.

We found Tiffany & Co. And no Sweet Home Alabama didnt come true. We had a look around. Felt a little out of place. I wanted to know how much some things were. Ben said "Hanna if you have to ask, you cant afford it!" Such a realist.

And the Trump Building. Just wanted to show you the expensicve things on Wall Street.

Central Park - Home Alone 2!!!

So the internet isnt letting me load all the photos on (I have tried 5 times) so you get 2 pics of Central park.
We walked all the way from the Crn of 8th Ave & 34th St to Central Park.
We then wandered all the way through the park to find scenes from Home Alone 2 - Lost in New York.

This was the bridge where Kevin gave the turtle dove to the Pidgeon Lady. Its also where he was standing when his dad yelled about Kevins room service bill.

And here it is, the Plaza Hotel. Starting to loo a little old. Quite impressive but not nearly as impressive in the movie. I got a shot of the front doors. I pictured Kevin getting into his Limo with his cheese pizza.

Now we couldnt visit Duncans toy chest as it is a toy store in Chicago and we dont make it to Chicago this time around.

I did get a photo of the ice skating ring that Marve & Harry are at when they are planning to rob Duncans Toy Chest and will try putting it on in the morning.

We had a huge day today so it will be a little quieter tomorrow. (Not that its ever quiet in New York City).

Night at the Museum!!! (American Museum of Natural History)

" Me no dumb dumb, you dumb dumb"
Today we went to the American Museum of Natural History.
It was just like watching the movie "Night at the Museum"
I kept thinking we would run into Ben Stiller!!! No luck though.
The Museum was awesome. Not only did it take us forever to walk there but we walked around it for ages.

Here is the T-Rex that liked to play fetch. It was very cool. I did expect to see him move but again, no such luck.

The Whale. The sea room was closed as you can see there are heaps of tables being set up for a function on tonigh. We didnt ask.

Dont know if you can see, but this is the cheeky monkey that stole the keys in the movie.

And this is the front of the museum. The Museum is right accross the road from Central Park.

We had an awesome day today. We walked alot of Kms but it was all worth it.

Rockefeller Centre & the Empire State Building

Today we found Rockefeller Centre. No Christmas trees but an ice skating ring. So good. We stood there for ages just watching all the people go by.
Its alot smaler than i though but it was really cool to be there.
I have more photos but they wouldnt load.

Then we went up the Empire State Building to the 86th floor to the Observation deck.

Awesome. We could see our hotel and the statue of liberty from afar (see the photo below.) We saw the Hudson river, Central Park, Brooklyn Bridge, infact we saw everything up there.

There you go the statue of liberty is on the little island in the middle of water. We will be going on the Ferry past it in the next couple of days.

And of course we went into the NBA shop. Ben loved it. Lots of Michael Jordan Memorabilia.

After spending all day wandering up and down the streets we are absolutly stuffed. We are about to head out for dinner and see Time Square in the Dark.

Oh we also saw a scene being filmed for a motion picture. We took a photo or two. Was hoping it would be Sarah Jessica Parker about to walk out of the Oyster shop but it was just a scene of people walking. No one famous. Booooooo.

USA USA USA!!!!

We are in America!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So we are finally in America. After an all day trip from Taxi to Plane to Taxi we made it to the New Yorker Ramarda Hotel.

Silly us decided to go for a wander at 5pm. Peak hour. Was ok at first but then the walls of people were meeting us at every street crossing.

We have found we are not far away from Madison Square Garden (Basketball) and we walked to Time Square (Photo above).

We are both very over excited at the moment, so hopefully better photos tomorrow.

Check out the Size of that piece of Pizza!!! No i didnt eat it all.

Pizza in America is better than England. We had BBQ and it was yummy.

So we are going to have an early night tonight since there is a 4 hour time difference to the UK and we didnt get much sleep last night (Excited).

Redmire to Nottingham!!!

We made it to Robin Hoods Stomping ground. Robin Hood County.
These 2 photos are the Old Oak tree where Robin Hood and his Merry Men lived for a while. It has alot help holding it up and making sure it doesnt die or get distroyed.
Cant you just see Robin Hood and the boys hanging out here.
Walking through sherwood forest!
& Here is where we are staying tonight. The Park Hotel.
We are heading back to Justin & Simones house tomorrow.
On Monday we have to say good bye to the United Kingdom and we fly out to America.
First stop - New York for 8 days.
We are both very excited!
1 month til we get home.

Stirling to Redmire!!!

Really cute fluffy faced cows. so cute.
This is the waterfall used in Robin Hood. Its the scene where Robin Hood fights little John.
This is Castle Bolton.
This is me making it to the middle of the Castle Bolton Labrinth.
Bit of a bad photo, but this is where we had dinner last night and we were the only 2 in the whole pub. It was nice. We only wish we had the same thing when we worked at the Diggers.

Invermoriston to Stirling - Lochness

Thats right... I spotted the Lochness monster & Nessie even wanted a photo with me!
This is the Lochness in the morning. It was a foggy morning wit the sun trying to break through.
This is the William Wallace memorial in Stirling.
This was my most expensive hot chocolate. I did have Baileys in it but it cost 4 pounds 35p. Wow.
& here is where we had dinner that night.
We stayed in the barn lodge with stables all around us. It was very nice. Hard to find but we got there in the end.
